Hi everyone! I'm Diah from Indonesia, and I'm planning an aesthetic treatment in Seoul next year. But I'm a bit worried about the language barrier. I speak English quite well, but I'm not sure if it's enough to explain the treatment details to the doctor?
Has anyone had any experience consulting there? Do most clinics have staff who speak English or even Indonesian? Or should I prepare myself to learn Korean first? I'm afraid there might be miscommunication about what I want. 😅
Actually, I'm also curious if bringing a translator or using a translation app would help. Or is it better to look for a clinic with a track record of treating international patients? But I'd also like to know your experiences firsthand.
Thank you for your input!

Hey Dia! I tried this two months ago, and honestly, the translation app helped me a lot, but the most important thing is to write down your notes about what you want to do a day or two before the consultation, because some clinics have staff who speak English, but don't expect them to understand all the subtle details 😅
Dia-gaa, I was in Seoul earlier this year, so I think it would be a very smart idea for you to bring a translator! I myself have had great success with the help of a class translator, so you might think that there is no shortage of people.
Dia, I feel the same way about Onoe! If you speak English well, I think you can understand most things. I want to go with a surrogate myself, because I want to be able to convey detailed information reliably.
Hi Dia, great job! I had the same worries when I went from Japan, but actually, you can check in advance by email whether many clinics have English-speaking staff. I prepared a few simple Korean phrases and used Google Translate, and it worked out pretty well. Bringing an interpreter is one option, but surprisingly, English is often sufficient, so I recommend contacting the clinic first. 😊
