Hi, this is Mei. I'm going to Seoul next month to get a beauty consultation, but I'm a little worried about the language barrier... Will I be able to manage with English or Japanese? What's it really like?
My English is at a conversational level, but I'm not confident when it comes to medical explanations or subtle nuances. I especially want to properly communicate my skin concerns and wishes, so I'm worried the language barrier will be a problem.
For those who have had consultations in Seoul, what was your experience like? Should I choose a place with a counselor who speaks Japanese, or will English be enough? Also, would using a translation app be a good idea? I'd love to hear from people with experience!

Hi May, I understand your concerns 🥺 I also had language barriers when I went for a consultation at Saul. I was wondering if you've ever tried using a translation app during a consultation? Did it help much with minor issues? Because I'm confused whether I should look for a place with Japanese speakers or try my luck with English.
I completely understand how you feel, Mei! I had the same anxieties. What I learned from my own experience is that larger clinics often have Japanese-speaking staff, so I recommend asking "Can you provide services in Japanese?" when you inquire beforehand. I brought a translation app just in case, but they explained everything carefully during the consultation, so I managed to get by even in English. However, if you want to convey your skin concerns and subtle nuances, I think it's safer to choose a place that offers Japanese-speaking services!
I have the same idea! I hope to improve my English, but I have the same feeling as you. If anyone has had this experience, I would love to hear it!
