Hey everyone! I'm planning a trip to Seoul in a few months to look into some treatments, and I'm getting a bit anxious about the language thing. My Korean is basically non-existent lol. Has anyone here done consultations in English only? I'm wondering if most places in the major areas have English-speaking staff, or if I should try to find someone who can translate for me. I don't want to accidentally miscommunicate about what I'm looking for, you know? Also curious — did any of you feel like the language barrier affected how well you could ask questions or express your concerns? I'd rather not rely on Google Translate the whole time 😅 Any tips would be really helpful!

I completely understand your concerns! I only spoke English when I had consultations last year, and I felt that many clinics in areas like Myeongdong and Gangnam do have English-speaking staff. However, sometimes communication can still be a bit fuzzy when discussing details 😅 My experience later on was to write down the questions I wanted to ask in advance using Google Translate and then show them a screenshot. This way, it's a bit clearer. I also suggest considering having a translation app as a backup.
I was also worried about the language barrier at first, but luckily, larger establishments in Seoul usually have English-speaking staff or at least try their best to understand. I suggest preparing important questions in English beforehand, or even taking photos/finding reference images to show them, as this method is much more effective than using Google Translate! 😊
I totally understand your concern! When I first went to Seoul, I found that writing down what I wanted to do in a small notebook with pictures from Instagram was super helpful. Even if they didn't speak much English, they understood really well 😊 Some places even had translation apps or staff who actually spoke English.
