Hi everyone, I'm hui. I'm recently considering getting some cosmetic surgery consultations in Seoul, but I'm a bit worried about the language barrier. My English is okay, and Chinese is obviously no problem, but I don't speak any Korean at all. I wanted to ask if any sisters have been to Seoul for consultations – can doctors or consultants usually communicate in English? Or would it be best to bring my own translator?
I've heard that many clinics in Seoul cater to international patients, so they should have English-speaking staff, right? But I'm not entirely sure, as it involves specific medical issues, and I'm concerned about potential misunderstandings if communicating in English. Has anyone had a similar experience?
If English isn't sufficient, do I need to find my own translator, or do the clinics themselves offer such services? What's the approximate cost? However, the main thing is to ensure I can correctly understand the doctor's advice and explanations. Seeking advice from those who have been through this!

Hi Hui! I'm thinking about the same thing, so I totally relate to the language concerns. From what I've heard, many places in Seoul do have English-speaking staff, but for specific medical details, it seems safer to bring an interpreter or ask the clinic directly if they provide that service—because the most important thing is that we truly understand what the doctor is explaining, not just "roughly"!
Hi! I was also worried about the language barrier when I wanted to consult in Seoul, but it turns out many places have staff who can speak English, especially those accustomed to international patients. However, for specific medical details, I suggest you contact them first via email or WhatsApp before coming, and ask if they have an interpreter or fluent staff—so there won't be any miscommunication during the consultation 😊
