Hi everyone! I'm Camille from the US and I'm thinking about getting some aesthetic work done while I'm in Korea next year. The thing is, I'm pretty nervous about trusting reviews when I can't actually read Korean. I've been using Google Translate on some clinic websites but honestly I'm not confident it's catching everything, especially the nuanced stuff.
I'm wondering—how do you guys evaluate clinics and doctors when you're a foreigner? Are there certain red flags in reviews (even translated ones) that make you walk away? Like, do you look for specific language that seems off, or is it more about vibes? I've heard mixed things about just relying on English-language review sites too.
Also, how much do you trust before-and-afters you see online? I know that's kind of a basic question but I genuinely want to know what's helped you feel confident (or not) about your choice. Any tips on vetting places or questions you wish you'd asked beforehand? Thanks so much—this community has been super helpful already!

Hi Camille! I'm also a heavy user of translation software, haha. I was wondering if you've considered finding an English-speaking consultant or agent to help you research before going to Korea? I've heard some people ask friends of friends or chat with people who have been there on Chinese social media beforehand, which seems more reliable? Are you planning to do the same?
Hi Kamil! I was just as nervous as you, and it's really hard for a foreigner not being able to read Korean. I rely on listening to real people's experiences in online communities rather than just browsing websites, because translators aren't always the best at understanding. It would be good to hear what previous generations have said about what questions to ask!
I only went to Korea for treatments last year! To be honest, Google Translate has its limitations. I ended up asking friends who had been there or asking Koreans in local beauty groups for their opinions, which is much more reliable. You really need to look at a lot of photos, preferably those with before-and-after photos of you without makeup or from different angles. I'll be skeptical of any photos that only show a single angle, haha.
