Hi everyone, I'm Ziyi. I'm currently considering going to Seoul to inquire about some cosmetic procedures. My English is pretty good, but I don't understand much Korean. I'd like to ask if communicating in English is sufficient when consulting at a cosmetic clinic in Korea? Or is it necessary to find a Chinese translator or a Chinese-speaking consultant?
I've seen many clinics' websites mention English services, but I'm not sure if communication will actually be smooth during the consultation. Has anyone had experience with this? I'd especially like to know if the doctor can understand my needs if my English isn't very fluent, and whether important information is easily missed.
Also, I'd like to ask if some clinics offer translation services? But I don't know how much they usually charge or how they arrange it. I would be so grateful if someone could share their experience!

I was also worried about the language barrier during my first consultation! In my experience, many clinics do offer English consultations, but it's best to prepare notes or even reference photos to make communication easier, as some medical terms can be tricky to explain. You might want to ask the clinic if they have fluent English-speaking staff before you come, just to be more at ease 😊
Hi, actually, you don't need to worry too much about communicating in English. Usually, the healthcare staff will have someone who can speak English. But it's best to prepare a clear list of things you want to do beforehand, write them down a little, or use a translation app before you go, like I did the first time. Having documents or pictures makes it easier.
