Hi everyone! I'm planning a trip to Seoul in a couple months and I'm thinking about getting a consultation for some aesthetic work while I'm there. I speak English and a tiny bit of Korean (like, survival-level lol), and I'm kind of worried about how consultations actually work. Do clinics in the popular areas like Gangnam have English-speaking staff, or should I be prepared to bring a translator? I've heard some places are really international-friendly, but I'm not sure if that's just the super famous spots or if it's more common than I think. Has anyone here done consultations in Seoul without fluent Korean? What was your experience like? Any tips for making sure I understand what's actually being discussed? I want to go in informed, not just nodding along and hoping for the best 😅 Thanks!

I was also worried about this when planning a trip to Seoul! Honestly, from my friends' experiences, the important thing is to prepare a written list of questions beforehand—bring it on your phone or on paper—so it's easier to explain or translate if there's something you don't understand. Some places do have staff who speak English, but it's best not to rely on them 100%, hehe. So, prepare a translator app or bring a friend who can speak Korean or English to make communication easier 😊
I totally get the language anxiety! Honestly, I brought a friend who speaks Korean to my consultations, but I've also seen people use Google Translate on their phones during appointments and the staff didn't seem to mind at all — they were actually pretty patient about it. Definitely write down your questions beforehand in English so you have them ready to ask, whether you're using your phone to translate or trying to communicate directly!
Make sure to check that the doctor actually has English-speaking staff before booking an appointment, as some places may only have translators. 😅 I've inquired at several places, and some were very kind and provided documents in English for me to read. If you're unsure about anything, it's better to ask them to write it down on paper!
Hello! Have you traveled to Seoul before or is this your first time? I also have a hard time with the language barrier, so I understand your situation 😅
Hi sister! I'm also curious about the hospitals you mentioned that have English-speaking consultants. How do you communicate when making an appointment? Is it by phone, or through an app or website? I'm worried about language barriers 😅
I was thinking the same thing! Language is a concern, but from what I've heard, places with a lot of foreigners usually have translators or staff who speak English. Some even have LINE chat where you can send pictures and ask questions before you go, which is very helpful 😊
I understand your concern! What I wanted to ask is, are you planning to do any research in advance about where you want to go? Because it seems that contacting websites beforehand and explaining that you don't speak English might help them make arrangements in advance.
