Hi everyone, I'm Min, from China. I'm currently considering getting a minor cosmetic procedure done in South Korea, but to be honest, I'm a little unsure. I've heard that South Korea has a very advanced cosmetic surgery industry, but as a foreigner, I really don't know how to find a trustworthy clinic.
My biggest concern is communication—I'm comfortable with both English and Chinese, but I'm not comfortable discussing medical matters through a translation machine. Have any of you had similar experiences? How did you verify that the clinic was legitimate? Is there a checklist I should check beforehand? For example, what questions should I ask during the consultation, or what qualifications should I look for?
Also, if I want a doctor who speaks a foreign language or have a professional translator present, how can I communicate and confirm this beforehand? I'd love to hear everyone's advice, thank you!

I understand your concerns! When I went for my last consultation, I emailed them beforehand to ask if they had a Chinese-speaking consultant. That way, I didn't have to rely entirely on translation software, and I felt much more at ease. I suggest you ask in Chinese before making an appointment; most places will have a way to help you arrange it.
Hi Min! I was worried about communication at first too, but when booking through the website, I tried writing a simple email in English (no fuss) saying I wanted a time slot with an interpreter or someone who speaks my native language. And they replied immediately! During the actual consultation, they had professional helpers, not machine translation, which made me feel much more confident. I even took screenshots of the email reply as proof and clarified everything before my visit. ✨
I understand your concerns! I'm also a foreigner and had similar communication worries. The best thing to do is try emailing the clinic and ask if they have staff who speak Thai or your language. Some medical universities even recommend clinics that offer this service.
I was wondering if you've already contacted the hospital to inquire about communication and consultation procedures? I'd like to know how quickly they respond when we ask questions in English.
