Hi everyone, I'm Min. I've been thinking about getting some skin management or cosmetic procedures done in Seoul lately, but I'm a bit concerned about the language barrier. My English is pretty decent, but not super fluent, and I basically don't speak Korean. I'd like to ask some experienced sisters here—do clinics in Seoul generally have English-speaking doctors or translators available? Or should I learn some basic Korean vocabulary beforehand to be safe?
What I'm particularly curious about is whether choosing a place with English communication might compromise the quality of the consultation? Can doctors clearly explain the treatment plan and possible precautions? Has anyone tried using translation apps or bringing a translator to consultations?
Honestly, my biggest concern is that miscommunication could lead to unsatisfactory results, so I'd really love to hear about your real experiences. Can anyone share how you've handled the language issue? Thanks so much~

I totally understand your concern! 😅 I felt the same way at first, but when I actually went to consult, I found that many places have staff who speak English quite well. More importantly, they already understand that foreign customers might not speak Korean, so they'll try their best to explain clearly. Some places even have basic Thai available. Personally, I downloaded Google Translate just in case, but I barely used it. You could try looking for places with reviews from foreigners first.
I'm considering the same thing, and your concerns are totally understandable! I've heard that many clinics now have doctors or translators who speak English, but it's best to confirm by phone or email beforehand so you feel more prepared. Some friends have told me to bring a translation app or to write down the questions I want to ask in Chinese and then translate them into English beforehand, which can make communication clearer~
