Hi everyone! I'm Yating from Taiwan. I'm recently considering some cosmetic procedures in Korea, but honestly, I have no experience finding clinics. I speak a little Korean, but not fluently, so I'm worried about communication problems. Could anyone share how you found a trustworthy clinic?
What I really want to know is: how do you screen clinics? Are there any red flags to watch out for? Also, during consultations, do you usually request to speak in English or use a translator? I feel this is quite important because I want to make sure I truly understand what the doctor is saying.
If anyone has had bad communication experiences at clinics, I'd also like to hear how you handled it. Thank you!

Hey Yating! I totally get the language anxiety — I had the same worry coming from the US. Honestly, asking for English consultation or an interpreter upfront is totally normal and clinics that cater to international patients usually have staff prepared for this, so don't hesitate to request it during your first call!
I'm also from outside Korea and had the same concerns! In my experience, ask for English-speaking staff or even check beforehand to see if a translator is available—most large clinics have this option now. Most importantly, don't be shy about asking questions repeatedly until you truly understand. Doctors are usually patient, especially if they're used to dealing with international patients.
Hey Yating, I totally feel your worry about the language barrier! I'd definitely recommend asking upfront during your initial consultation if they have English-speaking staff or can arrange an interpreter—most places are pretty used to international patients asking this, so don't hesitate. Also, I've found it really helpful to write down my main questions beforehand and even take screenshots or notes to show the doctor, just to make sure nothing gets lost in translation!
