Hello everyone! I'm Tinghui from Taiwan. I've been looking into Korean medical aesthetics recently, but honestly, my Korean isn't great, and I often feel lost when reading reviews for clinics or doctors 😅 A lot of the time, I don't know if certain terms are positive or negative, and I also worry that some reviews might be fake or sponsored.
I wanted to ask you all, how do you determine if a clinic or doctor is trustworthy? Are there any obvious red flags I should watch out for? For example, reviews that are too perfect, or certain phrasing that seems odd?
I know I can't rely entirely on translation software, but are there any methods that can help someone like me, with insufficient Korean skills, to filter through reviews? Or are there any specific things I should pay attention to when asking clinics questions directly? I'd really appreciate any advice!

To Tinghui! I understand how you feel because my Japanese isn't perfect either 😅 What I've started to notice is that if a review is written too perfectly, it actually seems a bit suspicious. Also, before you actually book a consultation, it's a good idea to send a few questions via email or phone and check if their replies are polite and thorough. If the Japanese is strange or the honorifics are unnatural, I get a little wary. The staff's response can be more trustworthy than reviews!
I'm in a similar situation, so I understand your concerns! 🙂 I find the best approach is to look out for reviews that seem too perfect or are entirely praise—genuine reviews usually include both pros and cons. Additionally, I prefer to directly ask the clinic about the procedure and potential risks, rather than just hearing the positives. If they can't explain things clearly, that's also a sign to reconsider.
I really sympathize! I'm in the same boat, not great at Korean either 😅 What I've tried is asking Korean friends or people in the community who speak Thai for help. They can assist with translating and adding some nuance to the reviews. When choosing a hospital, I try to contact them directly to ask specific questions via chat or through channels that have translation links. This helps both sides understand each other better ✨
