Hi everyone, I'm Ziyi! I'm thinking of getting a cosmetic consultation in Seoul, but I'm worried about the language barrier. My English is pretty good, but I barely speak any Korean. Has anyone had a consultation there? Are most clinics in English, or is it better to bring a translator or find a place with Chinese-speaking staff?
I'm a little worried about whether I'll fully understand if the doctor explains medical terminology in English. This is something I can't be careless about. Has anyone experienced misunderstandings due to language barriers? Or do you have any advice?
Also, I'm thinking of using a translation app or something similar beforehand. If any of you have had consultations there, could you share your experiences? Thank you!

I'm also considering consulting in Seoul, and I totally understand your language concerns! My English is okay, but my Korean is very weak. Some people say that many clinics have English-speaking staff, but I also find medical terminology a bit daunting. So, I'm thinking of bringing a translation app or writing down my key questions beforehand, just to be more confident.
I totally understand your concerns, Ji! I'm from abroad too, and during my first consultation in Seoul, I was a bit nervous about the medical language. My tip: contact the clinic before you come and ask directly if they speak English or need an interpreter—most places in Seoul can accommodate English, but it's always better to confirm first to give you peace of mind. I also brought a translator app and wrote down my questions in Korean beforehand, which made the consultation go much smoother!
I have the same concerns! I was wondering if you considered using translation software or writing down your questions beforehand? I've heard that some places offer English consultations, but I'm not sure which cosmetic clinics are reliable. I'd like to hear your findings!
When I went to Seoul for consultation, I was worried about the language barrier. I found that there were many places where I could find consultants who spoke English. However, medical terminology can be difficult to understand at times. So I looked up some relevant English words in advance and brought a translation app just in case. I felt more at ease communicating that way!
Hey Jieie! I totally get the language concern—I had the same worry when I first came here. My tip: definitely reach out to clinics beforehand via email or their consultation form and specifically ask if they have English-speaking staff or can arrange an interpreter. Most places that cater to international clients are pretty prepared for this! I also brought a friend who speaks both languages just to be safe, and honestly it helped me feel more confident understanding everything. Good luck with your consultations!
I went to Seoul last month and found a clinic with staff who spoke English quite well, but sometimes there were difficult medical terms. So I downloaded a translation app, which helped a lot 😅 Try to find a clinic that offers free online consultations before booking so you can ask about language barriers beforehand.
