Hi everyone, I'm Rui. I'm currently considering some cosmetic procedures in Korea, but my Korean isn't very good, which is making reading reviews particularly difficult. There are some review websites I can't understand at all, and even translation software isn't always accurate. Does anyone have any advice on how to reliably research a clinic or doctor's reputation?
I'd especially like to know what warning signs I should be wary of when reading reviews. For example, are too many perfect reviews necessarily unreliable? Or are certain wordings suggestive of problems? I'm also worried that some reviews might be faked.
If you've had similar experiences or know any reliable ways to verify clinic information, I'd really appreciate hearing your advice. I want to find a safe and professional place, but as a foreigner, I'm feeling quite overwhelmed. Thank you!

I understand your predicament! I was in the same boat before coming to Korea. I later discovered that getting Korean friends to translate genuine reviews was much more reliable than using translation software, and you could also ask them about the clinic's reputation. Also, I noticed that overly perfect reviews should be approached with caution; genuine feedback usually mentions small details or feelings during the recovery period, which is often more credible.
Hey Louis, I totally get it—I'm in the same boat right now! The language barrier is so real, and yeah, those translation apps can be really hit or miss with medical terminology. I've been trying to cross-reference reviews on multiple sites and asking other foreign friends here who've done procedures, which honestly helps way more than relying on one source. Definitely watch out for overly perfect reviews (they do seem sus sometimes!), and I try to look for specific details in comments rather than just vague praise—that usually feels more genuine to me.
Luis, I'm also a foreigner, so I understand how you feel! I was wondering if you've tried asking people who've gone through the process here directly, or if there are any foreign communities in Korea you could connect with to hear about real-life experiences?
I'm also considering getting the procedure done in Korea, so I understand your anxiety! I think the best thing to do is find other foreigners who have gone through it and ask them directly, or watch English/Vietnamese review videos about those places instead of trying to translate difficult-to-understand Korean reviews.
Louis, I totally understand how you feel! I also struggled at first when I was looking at Korean review sites because the translation apps were completely useless 😭 I do feel suspicious of reviews that seem too perfect, so it might be a good idea to compare multiple sites or try using a concierge service for foreigners.
