This is a surgery that lifts drooping eyebrows to reduce the weight pressing down on the eyelids and creates a clear, defined eye shape.
Eyebrow lift surgery is a procedure that lifts and fixes sagging eyebrows, which are caused by aging or structural issues. When eyebrows droop and press down on the upper eyelids, the eyes appear stuffy and sleepy, and this surgery improves that appearance. Approaches include subbrow (hiding the incision line beneath the eyebrow), forehead incision, and endoscopy.
It is suitable for cases where the eyebrows themselves droop and press against the eyes, when you wish to avoid forehead incision scars (under-eyebrow lift), or when upper eyelid surgery alone is insufficient to improve sagging. It allows for simultaneous reshaping of both the eyebrow position and shape.
The most common procedure is the subbrow lift, which involves excising skin just below the eyebrows to raise them; for cases where the entire forehead is sagging, a hairline lift or endoscopic lift is selected. The incision is concealed at the eyebrow border to minimize scarring.
The stitches are removed after 5 to 7 days, and swelling and bruising subside over 2 to 3 weeks. The incision line under the eyebrow fades over time, but redness may be visible initially, so care is required.
If the lifting amount is excessive, the facial expression may appear awkward or surprised, so left-right symmetry and naturalness are important. Scar management along the incision line is required for subbrow lifts.
If the sagging is the eyelid skin, upper blepharoplasty is suitable; if it is the eyebrow itself, eyebrow lifting is appropriate. If both are present, they are considered together, and the decision is made after assessing the eyebrow height through an examination.
While mild sagging can be temporarily improved with sutures or procedures, incisional lifting offers greater effectiveness and longer-lasting results for structural sagging.
