Hi everyone, my name is Mind, a high school student from Thailand. I'm considering getting double eyelid surgery in South Africa because I've heard a lot of friends talk about it, and it seems like they have a lot of expertise in this area. However, I'm hesitant about whether it's really worth the hassle of flying there and then having to hide behind bandages. It's really hard to decide.
My biggest question is, has anyone gone from overseas before? Regarding the duration of inflammation, self-care while there, and follow-up checks after returning home – are these things really that complicated? And what about the total cost (doctor, accommodation, airfare)? I'm still not sure how much it will cost.
Does anyone have experience with this? Do you think it's worth the hassle, or should I find a different medical team closer to home? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same dilemma as you! Going abroad for surgery and then having to worry about post-operative care is really complicated. I think I'll try to find out more about options in closer countries first, because at least it would be easier to return if further monitoring is needed.
I've also had cosmetic procedures done abroad, and personally, I think long-distance flights for this kind of surgery are a bit of a hassle. Sitting on a plane for so long during recovery isn't ideal for swelling and aftercare. My suggestion is to consult with a reliable doctor in your home country or Thailand first. Maybe you don't necessarily need to travel that far?
Hi! I'm curious how your friends are recovering over there? Especially after such a long flight back, have the swelling and bruising affected their daily lives? I feel that's quite an important factor in your decision.
