Hi everyone, I'm Xinyi, from China. I've been considering getting double eyelid surgery lately. My friends all say that hospitals in Seoul have good techniques and recovery results, so I'm seriously considering flying there specifically to have it done. But honestly, I still have some hesitation—taking time off work, buying plane tickets, and recovering in an unfamiliar place are all significant commitments.
My main concern is whether there's a huge difference in results between choosing a hospital in China and choosing one in Seoul, or is it more of a placebo effect? Also, how long do I need to stay there after the surgery before returning home? I'm worried that flying might affect my recovery. Have any of you had similar experiences and could share your thoughts? Especially regarding practical issues like choosing a hospital, language barriers, and post-operative care.
I'm currently weighing the costs and benefits. It would be great if someone could share their thought process; they don't necessarily have to have had the surgery themselves, and everyone is welcome to discuss this idea. Thank you all!

I'm curious. Have you asked your friend who had surgery in Seoul how long they stayed there before they could fly home? That's something I consider too before deciding whether to go or not.
Hi Shin, I'm curious—when your friends had their procedures in Seoul, how long did they have to stay there before returning home? I'm also thinking about recovery time and the long journey, just like you 🤔
I feel the same way as you! Having to ask for permission, fly far, and recover in a foreign country is really stressful. I'm considering something similar, so I understand your concerns about the cost versus the results.
Tin, I had the same worries before going to Seoul! I think choosing a place depends on your research of doctors in both places, not necessarily that Seoul is better. The important thing is to find an experienced doctor you trust and can easily contact, especially when you have to return to China because you'll need remote follow-up.
