Hi everyone, I'm Ting. I've been thinking about getting double eyelid surgery in Seoul recently. The main reason is that I've heard Korea has extensive experience in this area, and their aesthetic standards align well with my preferences. But I'm a bit conflicted – is it really worth flying all the way from China for it? The round-trip airfare, hotel, and the time cost during recovery are not insignificant.
My biggest question right now is, shouldn't the medical institutions in some major cities in China also have good techniques? Then why go all the way to Seoul? Is there a noticeable difference, or am I just drawn in by the marketing? Also, if I decide to go, how would I handle follow-up care during the recovery period? What if I have problems while I'm abroad and swollen? These are some of my concerns.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Or how do you weigh these decisions? I'd love to hear your genuine thoughts, not marketing copy. Thanks!

I totally understand how Tin feels. I used to struggle with the same thing. By the way, have you actually had consultations at hospitals in China? Or are you still in the information-gathering stage?
I was wondering if you've consulted with anyone who went directly to Seoul for the procedure? And if you did go, regarding post-operative care during the swelling period, do you actually need to contact Korea constantly, or can you manage it at home?
I totally understand your concerns! I also went back and forth between going domestically and to Korea, but I found that the key is really finding a doctor whose aesthetic aligns with yours, and you don't necessarily have to fly that far. However, I've heard from friends that the consultation process in Korea is indeed quite thorough. If you're not entirely sure about your needs, maybe you could try finding a reliable doctor domestically to talk to first? In any case, it never hurts to consult with a few more places before making a decision.
