Although I have fully recovered and am going around laughing now, back then I felt like the sky was falling, so I wanted to write this for others who might be in a similar situation.
In March 2024, I went on a trip to Vietnam with friends for the first time in about 10 years.
On the flight out, I experienced symptoms of ear fullness and dizziness.
Since it had been a long time since my last trip, I just thought I was feeling dizzy for a moment.
Because I was traveling with friends, I didn't want to show that I was sick, so
I just took some over-the-counter medicine and went through the schedule for the entire 3-night, 5-day trip.
Fortunately, I didn't feel very dizzy or have ear fullness while traveling, so I arrived safely in Korea.
However, about a week after arriving, my hearing suddenly started to deteriorate.
I rushed to an ENT clinic, but they told me to go to a university hospital, so I ended up hospitalized for two weeks.
During my hospitalization, there were no available beds, so I think I received treatment while moving from room to room.
The hospital staff said it would have been better if I had come for treatment when my ears first started feeling full,
and that it was a shame I was a bit late. He did so, and even though I combined steroids, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and tympanic membrane injections, the prognosis was not good.
After that, I visited about two more university hospitals known for treating hearing loss.
I received treatment for a total of eight months, but since there was no improvement, I stopped hospital treatment and just took medication.
But you know, taking only medicine can be exhausting.
In the beginning, the medication seemed to work well for me, but later on, I felt nauseous, and I was worried that it might cause problems in other organs as well.
So, as a last resort, I decided to try a Korean medicine clinic and started going to Songpa Sejong Korean Medicine Clinic.
To be honest, I didn't go with high expectations; I just visited because I felt I had to use any means necessary to get better.
Unexpectedly, the director's consultation was solid and detailed.
To summarize, he said that most hearing loss is caused by problems in the neck, where the brain connects to the spine.
He said that while he couldn't be 100% certain about my hearing loss, my neck was likely significantly misaligned.
So, I started receiving treatment in October 2025, and after eight months... I've recovered.
I visited the clinic the day before yesterday and confirmed that my hearing had gone up to 10dB.
I think the acupuncture treatment you continuously gave me on my neck helped a lot.
If you are suffering from hearing loss, you should give it a visit.
