Hi everyone, I'm Hui. I've been struggling with something lately. I'm considering flying all the way to Seoul to get double eyelid surgery. It can be done in China, but I've heard that Korean aesthetics and techniques might be better suited to the style I want, plus many friends say that doctors in Seoul are incredibly experienced. However, the thought of flying all the way from China and having to consider the recovery period seems like too much of a hassle.
My biggest concern is—will spending money to fly there really result in such a significant improvement over doing it at home? Or are they about the same, and I'm just being misled by marketing and photos on social media? Also, it would be quite inconvenient to be in a foreign country if any problems arise during the recovery period. Has anyone had a similar experience and could share how they weighed these factors?
I'd also like to hear everyone's opinions on this decision. I know ultimately it's my decision, but I really hope to hear some practical advice. For example, when is the best time to go, how far in advance should I book, and how do I choose a reliable place for consultation? Welcome to the discussion!

I completely understand your concerns! I also came from abroad for consultations, and at first I was also wondering if the trip was worthwhile. I think the key is to consult with a few online first, ask about their ideas and treatment plans. This way you can compare their styles and see how different they are. Sometimes you'll find the differences aren't as big as you imagined, and sometimes you'll feel they are quite different. The most important thing is to find a doctor and team that you can trust; this will make you feel more at ease during your recovery period.
I totally understand your concerns, Hui! I was thinking the same thing before I came to Seoul from here. The cost of flights and accommodations is certainly quite steep, but what reassured me was that I could consult directly and see their portfolios—not just edited photos on social media. I think it's also important to do thorough research and read other people's experiences, and make sure you have a support system there (at least one you can communicate with) if you have any questions during your recovery. Maybe try video call consultations with a few places first before making a final decision?
I completely understand how you feel. The flight costs and recovery time are huge, but I think it might be worth it if you find a really good doctor, because your experience and style might be different for you. Try searching for people who have traveled this way and ask them directly.
That's really interesting! I was wondering, for your friend who went to Seoul, was it easy to follow their recovery? And how did they handle any problems that arose after they returned home? Knowing this would help me make better decisions. 😊
