Hi everyone, my name is Xinyi and I'm from mainland China. I've been seriously considering getting a medical aesthetics procedure done in Korea lately, but to be honest, just thinking about how to plan the entire trip and budget is giving me a headache. I've heard that Korean medical aesthetics is really good, but as a first-timer going abroad for this, I have absolutely no idea how to calculate the costs...
What's really weighing on me right now is that beyond the surgery fee itself, I also need to factor in round-trip airfare, accommodation, meals, and everything else — it feels like expenses just balloon up all at once. And I'm also not entirely sure how long the recovery period takes — can you go back home right after the procedure, or do you need to stay there for a few more days? If I do need to stay, should I book a place near the clinic or just find any hotel? Does anyone have experience they could share? How many days of leave would I roughly need, and what's the best way to save money without making things too rushed?
There's also the language barrier issue... My English is okay, but I really don't understand medical terminology. How do other people deal with this? Should I just go directly to a place that has Chinese-speaking staff? I'm a bit worried right now that my planning won't be thorough enough, and I'll end up wasting money without getting good results. So I'd really appreciate hearing everyone's advice here. Thank you!

Hey Xinyi! I'm from Taiwan too, so I totally get where you're coming from 😅 Quick question—have you decided what treatment you want to do yet? The downtime really varies depending on the procedure, so it'll help us figure out how much time off you'd need to request! 🙂
I totally understand your concerns! I was thinking about trying something like this for the first time too, and now I really feel like I need to tell visitors to plan their budget and time off properly beforehand 😅
I'm actually considering the same thing, so I totally understand your concerns! I'd suggest reaching out to the clinics first to ask about recovery time needed, and from there you can figure out how many days you need to stay and calculate a more realistic budget. As for the language barrier, many places have English or Chinese-speaking staff, or you could bring along a translation app for extra peace of mind 😊
