Hey everyone, I'm Lauren from the US and I've been thinking about getting a double eyelid procedure done in Seoul. I've heard so many good things about the clinics there and the results people share, but I'm honestly stuck on whether it makes sense to fly all the way across the world for this. Like, would I really save enough to justify the flight, hotel, and time off work? Plus I'm nervous about recovery and follow-ups when I'm back home.
I know a lot of people do medical tourism in Korea and seem really happy with it, but I guess I'm wondering — has anyone actually done this? What was the experience like traveling for a procedure? I'm trying to figure out if I should just find someone stateside or if Seoul is really worth the whole trip situation.
Also, how do you even vet a clinic when you're not there in person? I obviously can't visit beforehand or anything. I feel like there's so much information online but I'm not sure what's actually reliable. Would love to hear from anyone who's been through this!

I also had my procedure done in Seoul from abroad, and I felt the most cost-effective way was to spend more time consulting and communicating with the hospital online, looking at their case photos to see if they suited my style, and asking about post-operative care details. This way, even remotely, you can have a reliable expectation. Regarding the total cost, I suggest you factor in airfare, hotel, and the time you can't work during post-operative recovery, and compare it with prices in the US. This way, you can truly know if it's worth it.
I understand Lauren's concerns, but based on my experience in Seoul last month, finding information through foreign forums and medical tourism groups is quite helpful. Just read many comments from people who have gone through it and ask detailed questions about the consultation process. The thing is, you need to carefully consider the total cost and the recovery time, because my trip was longer than expected due to the post-treatment care.
