Hi everyone, it's Yunru. I've been contemplating something lately. I've always been a bit unhappy with my eyes and have been wondering if I should get double eyelid surgery. Of course, there are doctors in Taiwan who can perform this, but after looking at many shared experiences, Korea seems to have a lot of expertise in this area? However, flying from Taiwan means considering airfare, accommodation, and recovery time, which feels like a significant cost. I wanted to ask everyone if it's worth making a special trip to Seoul?
What worries me the most is actually the recovery period. I've heard that there's swelling for a while after the procedure, and if I had it done in Taiwan, at least I wouldn't have to sit on a plane. But I've also heard that Korean doctors' aesthetics differ from Taiwan's, and perhaps the results would better suit my preferences? Has anyone specifically traveled abroad for this surgery before? How do you think one should decide to avoid regrets?
Also, if I do decide to go to Seoul, what preparations should I make beforehand? Will language communication be an issue? My English is okay, but I don't know any Korean at all. Feel free to share your experiences or thoughts!

Hey Yun Lu! I totally get the worry about flying back with swelling—I had similar concerns coming from the US. Honestly, I think the language barrier is way less scary than it sounds; most places have English-speaking coordinators and you can always use translation apps. My bigger question would be: have you looked at before/afters from doctors in both places to see whose aesthetic actually matches what YOU want? Sometimes it's not about which country is "better" but finding the specific person whose style clicks with you, you know?
