Hey everyone! I'm Rachel from the US and I've been thinking about getting double eyelid surgery for a while now. I've done some research and kept seeing how many people travel to Seoul for it, and honestly the cost difference compared to back home is pretty significant. But I'm second-guessing whether it's actually worth the hassle of international travel, recovery, and being so far from home if something doesn't feel right.
Like, I know Korea has an amazing reputation for this procedure and there are so many skilled surgeons there, but I'm nervous about the language barrier and coordinating follow-up care remotely. Has anyone here actually done this as a foreigner? What was your experience like deciding between getting it done locally versus making the trip? I'm trying to figure out if the cost savings are enough to justify flying out, getting the procedure, and then flying back while I'm healing.
I'm also not totally sure how to even start looking for someone trustworthy there without being in person to consult first. Like, how do you vet surgeons when you can't just walk into clinics? Any advice on what questions to ask or how to prepare for this kind of thing would really help me think through whether this is actually the right move for me.
