Hello! I'm Asuka, a 30-something living in Japan. I've always been self-conscious about my eyes and recently started seriously considering double eyelid surgery. I've heard that Seoul has excellent cosmetic procedures, and I've wondered if it might be more cost-effective than getting it done in Japan... but what's the reality?
When I think about the cost of flights and hotels, plus the post-operative follow-up, I'm unsure if it's truly worth it. There's also the language barrier, and I'm worried about how issues would be handled if something were to go wrong. Has anyone else from Japan had surgery in Seoul? What was your experience like?
Also, I have no idea how to prepare before surgery, what to look for when choosing a clinic, or how to make those decisions. Undergoing cosmetic procedures abroad really requires a strong commitment, doesn't it? What are your thoughts on this? I'd be grateful for any advice.

I'm considering the same thing! You're absolutely right, the cost of flights, hotels, and follow-up appointments really needs to be carefully calculated. I'm also very concerned about the language barrier and post-treatment care, so I'm still slowly gathering information. I hope to hear advice from sisters here with practical experience~
Take it easy. I'm thinking the same thing as you. I haven't decided yet whether Seoul or Japan would be better 😅. I've thought about the flight and hotel costs combined with post-surgery expenses, and it's truly very complicated. But at least you've thought it through carefully. I hope to hear real experiences from others too.
Aska, thank you for sharing the details. My question is: are you planning to stay in Seoul for a while after the surgery for follow-up appointments, or are you planning to return to work in Japan right away? I'm concerned about the same thing — the cost of the trip and the time might end up being more than the cost of the procedure itself 😅
