Hi everyone, I'm Yating. I've been thinking lately about whether I should fly to Seoul specifically for double eyelid surgery. Taiwan definitely has plenty of skilled doctors, but I have a friend who got it done in Korea and said the results look really natural. Plus, I've heard Seoul has way more options to choose from. But I'm still on the fence because of the time off work, airfare, accommodation, and then there's the whole aftercare situation... It feels like the cost goes way beyond just the procedure itself.
I wanted to ask if anyone here has traveled to Korea specifically for cosmetic surgery? How did you decide it was worth the trip? My biggest concern right now is that if anything goes wrong after surgery, wouldn't it be a hassle to go back to Seoul for follow-ups? Or is it actually possible to manage recovery on your own in Taiwan as long as you do a thorough consultation beforehand?
I'm also curious to hear what everyone thinks about "getting surgery abroad" in general. Do you absolutely have to go in person to make a decision, or can you do a remote consultation first to get a sense of things? I'm pretty uncertain about the whole process, so if anyone with experience could share, I'd really appreciate it!

Hey Yating, I totally get the hesitation! I'm from the US and had the same worry about flying all the way to Seoul — like, what if something feels off after I leave, right? Honestly, I think a lot depends on how thorough your initial consultation is and whether you feel comfortable doing follow-ups via photos/video calls if needed. I've heard some people manage aftercare from home just fine, but it definitely adds to the whole cost calculation when you factor in flights and staying longer just in case. Would be curious to hear from others who've done this cross-border too!
