This is a facial contouring surgery that creates a slender V-line by shaving down the angles of the developed jawbone.
Square jaw reduction is a surgery that slims the lower face by osteotomizing and trimming the mandibular angle (jawbone angle) that has developed laterally and backward. Accessed through the inside of the mouth, it leaves no external scars, and creates a natural line using curved osteotomy.
Accessed through an intraoral incision, the developed mandibular angle is osteotomized into a curve, and the outer cortical bone is trimmed to reduce its width (cortical bone resection can be performed concurrently). Precise planning is crucial to avoid nerve and blood vessel damage.
Temporary sensory loss may occur due to nerve damage, and management of bleeding and swelling is required. As this is a skeletal surgery, a precise diagnosis (CT) is essential.
Accessed from the inside of the mouth, there are no visible scars on the outside.
