Hi everyone, I'm Yan. I've been thinking about going to Korea for a treatment recently, but honestly, I'm a bit nervous about traveling abroad alone for this. My main concern is not knowing how to budget properly – just thinking about flights, accommodation, treatment costs, plus the number of days needed for recovery, my mind gets a little jumbled. Has anyone been able to share roughly how many days off I should take? I've heard that some treatments might require a few days of rest before you can be seen in public, but I'm not entirely sure about the specifics.
Then there's the issue of planning the entire trip. I'm wondering if I should fly over and get it done immediately, or go a few days early to get used to the environment. If recovery is needed, do I have to stay there for a few extra days? I'm actually quite interested in Korea and could do some sightseeing too, but only if I can first figure out how much time the treatment itself will take.
Also, I'm a bit unsure about the budget. I know the costs will vary greatly depending on the procedure, but can anyone give me a rough idea of how much to prepare for general expenses like food, accommodation, and transportation, besides the treatment cost itself, to be on the safe side? I'm not trying to save money, but rather do my homework in advance and have a clear understanding. If anyone has gone through similar planning, could you share some advice? Thank you!

Hi Yan! This is also my first time planning to go to Korea for a procedure, and I totally understand your nervousness 😅 I wanted to ask what kind of procedures you're considering? Because it seems like the recovery times vary quite a bit depending on the procedure, which might help in estimating how many days off you'll need to request?
Hey Yan, I totally get the overwhelm—I'm actually planning something similar and the budget/timeline thing is exactly what's stressing me out too! From what I've gathered talking to people, most folks seem to do like 7-10 days total (including a few days before to settle in), but definitely depends on what procedure you're thinking of. Would be great to hear from others about their actual experiences with downtime!
I totally understand how you feel. I've been in the same situation. Planning from abroad is really a hassle. Try starting by gathering information from people who have already been there, and then see how much downtime there is before deciding on the number of days you need to take off.
Hey Yan, I totally get the anxiety! Honestly, I'd suggest arriving 2-3 days early just to adjust and have consultations without rushing—it made me feel way less stressed. As for budget, beyond the procedure cost itself, I'd plan for basic living expenses (food, transport) similar to any other trip, but the main thing is building in extra days for recovery depending on what you're doing, since some treatments do need downtime where you might not want to go out. Everyone's different though, so definitely ask during your first visit what the realistic timeline looks like!
