Hi, it's Akari. I'm planning to go to Korea next month for a minor procedure and have a question about managing swelling for a few days before I return home.
I've heard swelling is common right after a procedure, so I want to take good care of myself before flying back. I'm particularly wondering what kind of aftercare products would be good to have on hand. For things like cooling sheets and soothing masks, what do you all usually bring with you?
Also, I'm a bit hesitant about cosmetics because of liquid restrictions for carry-on luggage, so I'm wondering if it's better to buy them there... If there are any products you recommend buying in Korea, or conversely, things that are easier to bring from Japan, I'd love to know. I'm also keen to hear any tips or personal experiences for reducing swelling as quickly as possible.

Hi Akari! In my experience, it's better to bring products from home that you know work well for your skin. Finding new products when your face is already swollen is super risky, haha. For liquids, try buying them there after your procedure because liquid restrictions are indeed annoying—most Korean beauty stores have plenty of options, and the prices are totally worth it!
I had the same thought too! Honestly, the swelling after surgery worries me a bit, but from what I've heard, if you take good care of yourself for the first two days, it gets better. Mashallah, you're preparing well for this 💙
Akari, I was like that too! Before my flight, I recommend buying a cooling serum and a hydrating face mask locally to prep your skin well. For example, taking a cold shower and keeping your head elevated really helped me. It seems like it doesn't make a difference where you buy hydrating products, but they seem to be better sealed!
I completely understand your concern. I went to Korea last month and was worried about the same thing! Honestly, I brought cooling gel packs from my home country, and it was the best decision. But also, soothing creams from there are very affordable and effective, so if you can buy them there instead of carrying liquids, that would be great. The main thing is that rest and good sleep are the most important for swelling ✨
