Hi everyone, I'm Jia-Hui from Taiwan. I've been thinking a lot lately about whether I should fly to Seoul for double eyelid surgery. I have monolids, and it's something I've been a bit self-conscious about. While there are many surgeons in Taiwan who can perform this procedure, I've heard from quite a few people that Korean eye surgeries have a good reputation? I'm still a bit hesitant, though, because I'd have to take time off work, book flights, and arrange accommodation, which all adds up to a significant cost. Plus, I'd need to consider the recovery period afterward…
My main concern is whether it might be an overreaction to fly all the way there just for surgery. Or is this something many people actually do? Also, if anyone has experience with this, do you have any advice on how to decide whether to have surgery abroad? For example, how do you evaluate a surgeon, or what kind of research should be done beforehand?
I'm also a bit worried that if I have the surgery abroad, it might be more complicated to return to Taiwan afterward, especially if there are any complications or follow-up appointments needed. But I don't want to give up on the idea because I'm genuinely tempted. Has anyone gone through this or made a similar decision? I'd love to hear your thoughts or decision-making process. Thanks!
