I used to use daily lenses, but the cost became unbearable, so I recently switched to the monthly Alcon Water Lenses, which are famous for being moisturizing. When I first put them in, they were definitely comfortable without any dryness, which was great, but after a few days, managing them has become quite a chore. ㅠㅠ
Even though I spray saline solution every evening and scrub them thoroughly, my eyes feel incredibly dry by the afternoon, perhaps because the protein residue isn't being wiped away completely. On top of that, the lens material is so thin and soft that I'm constantly worried I might tear them while rubbing them with my hands.
I looked it up and saw that many people these days use machines that remove protein using ultrasound without touching the lenses. Do they really keep them cleaner than hand washing? I paid a high price for the monthly Alcon Water Lenses; I'm wondering if they clean so thoroughly without residue that I can use them like new lenses for the entire month. Please give me some advice if you've used these machines! Haha.

I use monthly Alcon Water Lenses too, and wiping them by hand every day is a real battle.
That's right... The lenses are so soft that I'm really worried they might get scratched or torn when I rub them.
My ophthalmologist told me that if protein isn't washed away properly, oxygen permeability drops, causing the cornea to swell and dry out. They said that blinking or removing contact lenses in that state can cause micro-abrasions on the corneal epithelium, making it incredibly painful, so they told me to clean it thoroughly.
Oh my... a corneal injury? ㅠㅠ No wonder my eyes sting and hurt every afternoon. Protein cleansing is really important...
I gave up on hand washing and bought Daycare, and since it perfectly removes protein with ultrasound, the stinging sensation in my eyes has completely disappeared. It's totally resolved!
Oh, really? If the machine cleans it automatically, it would be so much more convenient since I wouldn't have to scrub it by hand in the morning and wouldn't have to worry about it tearing!
Yes, since the machine cleans away even the protein thoroughly without needing to touch anything, it completely eliminates any worries about eye injury, so I am very satisfied.
You have to take good care of expensive lenses to use them for a full month... Thanks for the care tips and medical information for monthly Alcon Water Lenses~
