I visited Balgeun Noon Ophthalmology for an eye exam and booked an appointment for SMILE LASIK surgery. This is the first time I've had an eye exam at a clinic like this since I was a child. It is definitely different from the tests I used to get at opticians. If you include my childhood, it’s been over 20 years just wearing glasses and contact lenses. I inherited my dad's poor eyesight; I wore glasses until middle school and have only worn contact lenses ever since. I only wore glasses at home, though. I didn't want my face shape to change, and there are more than a few inconveniences with glasses... I also heard that if you wear lenses for too long, you might not be able to get LASIK later on, so I decided to get LASIK this year while I have some spare time. That's why I went for a consultation.

I was told that the pupil dilation test could be replaced by equipment, so I mentioned it when I booked the appointment. I saw some reviews saying it was actually quite uncomfortable. I also mentioned it because they said it isn't directly related to LASIK. Balgeun Noon Ophthalmology recently expanded and relocated from Sinnonhyeon to Nonhyeon. When I first looked into it, it was before the move, but now that it has, they say they even provide sunglasses and artificial tears if I have surgery. The results were much better than I expected. My eyesight is just a little poor, but my eye condition is good, so I am in a suitable state to receive vision correction surgery. I was a bit worried because there are cases where LASIK isn't possible, and I had an acquaintance who was told after an eye exam that lens implantation was the only surgery available. In that case, I even thought I shouldn't have the surgery. They could accurately check the measurements for myopia and astigmatism in both eyes, as well as corneal thickness and pupil size. Since it was my first eye exam, there were many fascinating things to see.

There is a small cafe-like space inside the hospital where you can drink coffee, so I made myself a cup while waiting. The consultation with the director was also great; his explanations were very professional yet easy to understand. Since I don't actually have any major issues, he told me to just make sure I'm in good condition before the surgery. He said I didn't have to decide on the surgery right away and could take time to review the results or think it over. I was satisfied again with the kind yet cool consultation. I had seen that Bright Eye Clinic performs the most SMILE LASIK surgeries in Korea, and it seemed like there was a reason for it. Maybe it was because I could feel the atmosphere of a specialized hospital inside, but I felt a sense of stability. I booked the surgery without much hesitation and returned home.
