Hi everyone, I'm Mengju. I've been thinking about whether I should fly to Seoul for double eyelid surgery. Taiwan has many excellent doctors, but I've heard that Korea has particularly extensive experience in this area, and offers a wide range of styles. However, the cost of flying, taking time off work, and accommodation feels quite high, and I'm weighing whether it's worth it.
Mainly, I'm not entirely sure about the practicalities of "going abroad for surgery." For example, how long do I need to stay in Korea during the recovery period? If there are any post-surgery complications, would remote follow-up appointments be too troublesome? And then there's the language barrier. Although many clinics offer translation services, I still feel a bit worried.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Could you share how you made your decision? What made you feel it was worth the trip? Or conversely, do you think it's safer to have the procedure done in your home country? I'd really love to hear everyone's thoughts to help me organize my thinking. Thanks!

I believe it's true that Taiwan has good doctors. However, when I had my procedure in Korea, I felt it was safer to stay there for at least a week during the recovery period. I was worried about the language barrier, but the staff was surprisingly attentive, so it wasn't that difficult. Ultimately, it seems best to decide based on how you balance the ease of follow-up care in your home country with your experience in Korea.
I totally understand how you feel. I'm thinking the same thing too. Recovery and following up on the drought situation are things I'm really worried about. But I've heard that some doctors can check in via video call after you get home, so it's not too bad. You just need to be well-prepared beforehand. 💕
