Hey everyone, I'm seriously considering traveling to Seoul for a double-eyelid procedure and I'm trying to figure out if it actually makes sense logistically and financially. I'm from the US, so there's the whole flight + accommodation + time off work situation to think about. I know Korea has amazing surgeons and the reputation is solid, but I'm wondering if the cost difference (if there even is one) justifies the hassle of traveling abroad for something that requires recovery time.
My main concerns are: How do you even choose a surgeon when you can't really meet them in person beforehand? What's the recovery process like if you're stuck in a hotel thousands of miles from home? And honestly, has anyone here done this and regretted the travel part, or felt like it was totally worth it? I'm not expecting perfect results—I know that's not how this works—but I want to make sure I'm thinking about this realistically.
I'd love to hear from anyone who's been through this, especially other people traveling from abroad. What would you say made the biggest difference in your decision?

I totally understand your concerns because I've been thinking about this too! The recovery period at a distance and the risk of choosing the right doctor do seem like major issues. That said, I've seen some people on the forum mention that doing video consultations in advance and looking at post-op photos can help with the selection process—might be worth trying?
I totally relate to your concerns on this—I'm from outside Asia too and I've been thinking about the same things! Honestly, I think the most important question is choosing a doctor without meeting them in person—maybe you could look for reviews from international forums or ask in groups of people who've already been there, since their experiences could be really good references. For recovery while staying at a hotel, it does seem like you'd need to be prepared to spend a few boring days in your room, so maybe it's better to bring a laptop, books, or bring a friend along? But what might help most is finding a clinic that supports follow-up communication online, so you stay connected even after you go home. I'm really curious to hear other people's stories too! 🙌
I really understand your concerns! I've been thinking about similar things too, so I wanted to ask you—have you considered doing a video consultation first to see how the doctor communicates? I've heard that some people chat online first, and once they feel confident the doctor is trustworthy, they decide whether to make the trip. That way it feels a bit more reassuring, doesn't it?
