With rhinoplasty coming up next month, I am wondering when it is safe to stop and resume using e-cigarettes (vaping), nicotine patches, and smoking cessation medication.
Please share your experiences regarding wound healing, bleeding, and the effects of anesthesia, as well as any hospital recommendations. I would also appreciate it if you could let me know how to explain this to the doctor.

Before and after rhinoplasty, nicotine, including that from e-cigarettes, can affect wound healing and blood flow, so it is generally recommended to stop using it at least 2 to 4 weeks prior to surgery and continue until you have fully recovered.
Please make sure to confirm with the hospital that nicotine patches contain "nicotine." Regarding smoking cessation medication (such as Champix or Bupropion), simply tell the anesthesiologist and the surgeon that you are currently taking them.
Be sure to ask during your pre-surgery consultation, "I am currently vaping, using patches, or taking smoking cessation medication; when should I stop or resume these activities?"
