When is it safe to start lymphatic massage after liposuction?
Generally, with a doctor's permission, light manual massage is possible 48 to 72 hours after surgery, while professional lymphatic drainage is usually recommended after 1 to 2 weeks.
It is safer to wait at least 4 weeks for mechanical high-intensity massage or radiofrequency treatments. If breast or facial fat grafting is performed concurrently, a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks is required for fat engraftment.
Lymphatic massage is prohibited if the wound is open, if there is redness, high fever, or bleeding, or if you are taking anticoagulants. Please consult with your attending physician to determine whether to wear a compression garment and the intensity of the massage.

Thank you so much for sharing this information! I just went through something similar and was initially confused about how long the wait would be. But I understand the importance of waiting for your body to truly recover before getting a massage; there's no need to rush. 😊
Thank you for sharing such detailed information! Did you personally undergo liposuction? I'd like to know if your doctor gave you any specific advice during your lymphatic massage, such as regarding the pressure applied?
Thank you for the very helpful information! I was also thinking about this and had the same questions about timing and safety. The information you shared about the different timeframes depending on the type of massage is very useful, especially the point about heavy machines requiring at least four weeks. 👍
Thank you for the detailed information! I have a question: How long after your surgery did you start massages? And what was your experience like when you actually waited 1-2 weeks before receiving lymphatic drainage?
