Hello, I have rhinoplasty coming up next month, so I have some questions regarding living with my dogs and cats.
Please let me know about the risk of infection when fur or saliva touches the wound, precautions for caring for them at home, and the appropriate time to hire a pet sitter.
I would appreciate it if you could share hygiene measures recommended by the vet or any practical tips.

For the first one to two weeks immediately after surgery, keep your pet separate to prevent them from touching or licking your face, and maintain strict hygiene regarding bedding and hands.
Since contact with saliva poses a higher risk of infection than contact with fur, it is safer to have a pet sitter help for the first few days if possible.
Following the hospital's guidelines is the top priority.
For at least 1-2 weeks after surgery, ensure that pet hair and saliva do not come into contact with the wound. It is essential to keep your pet in a separate room, wash your hands frequently, and wash bedding often.
The first week is particularly crucial for recovery, so it's advisable to get help from a pet sitter or family members if possible. Always follow your veterinarian's specific instructions regarding the exact duration.
