I switched from daily lenses to monthly ones, and while wiping the lenses by hand is a hassle, cleaning the lens case is surprisingly stressful. Even though I try to rinse and dry it every day, after a few days, the inside feels slippery and I get the feeling there are protein residues left inside.
I only rinse with saline solution because I heard washing with tap water can cause Acanthamoeba infection, but I can't exactly boil it vigorously in hot water every day. If the case is dirty, no matter how thoroughly I clean the lenses before putting them in, bacteria will eventually multiply and ruin my eyes, right?
I looked it up and saw that many people these days use machines that automatically clean the lenses using ultrasound just by pressing a button. Does using a machine solve the lens cleaning problem as well as the case cleaning problem all at once? Since it touches my eyes directly, hygiene of the case is the most important thing. I would appreciate some advice from those who said their eye irritation or dryness completely disappeared after using the machine!

I also only focused on wiping the lenses, but I just roughly rinsed the lens case with saline solution.
That's right... They say it's useless no matter how hard you clean the lenses if the case is dirty, but I can't boil them every time, so it's actually kind of a hassle.
My ophthalmologist told me that if protein and bacteria left in the lens case get on the lenses, oxygen permeability drops, causing the cornea to swell and become sensitive. They said that blinking in that state can cause micro-abrasions on the corneal epithelium, which is incredibly painful, so they advised me to take meticulous care of the case.
Oh my... a corneal injury? ㅠㅠ No wonder my eyes sting and hurt by the afternoon even after cleaning my lenses thoroughly. I see that protein removal is really important...
I used to get stressed about cleaning my contact lens cases, but then I bought a Daycare lens cleaner. It uses ultrasound inside to perfectly remove protein, so the stinging sensation in my eyes has completely disappeared. It's totally resolved!
Oh, really? If the machine cleans it automatically, it would be much more convenient since I wouldn't need to wipe the lens case separately or worry about scratches!
Yes, since the machine cleans away even the protein thoroughly without needing to touch anything, it completely resolves concerns about eye injuries and hygiene issues, so I am very satisfied.
You have to take good care of expensive lenses to wear them for a long time. Thanks for the information on the importance of cleaning the lens case and the medical tips.
