I usually enjoy hiking and running, but perhaps because I strained my legs, I've had severe leg swelling, cramps, and numbness since last year. Since there were no visible veins bulging out, I didn't really think about surgery, but I ended up having surgery last week.
I looked fine on the outside, but an ultrasound revealed severe varicose veins inside my right leg, so I only operated on the right side and didn't do the left.
The large blood vessels above the veins were treated with a laser, while the smaller, spiderweb-like vessels below were treated with injections.
The surgery was performed under local anesthesia; it only stung a little during the anesthesia, and it didn't hurt at all during the procedure.
After the surgery, I couldn't stand up because I couldn't put any strength in my legs due to the anesthesia, so the nurses put me in a wheelchair.
Since it was a private room, I was very comfortable, resting while watching TV, and then did some walking practice.
After receiving the injection treatment, I was discharged in the afternoon.
I was admitted around 8:40 in the morning, received both the surgery and injection treatment on the same day, and was discharged around 5:00 PM, so the entire process of admission and discharge was completed in just one day.
I have private health insurance. I plan to go this week to pick up the documents and file a claim.
Since I have first-generation indemnity insurance, I think the surgery costs will be fully covered, except for a 5,000 won deductible.
Because laser surgery is not covered by national health insurance, the criteria may vary by insurer, so please make sure to check your insurance coverage before visiting the hospital.
Varicose vein surgery isn't cheap, so it's a financial burden without insurance.
The hospital where I had my surgery is called DJ Thoracic Surgery, a specialized varicose vein clinic located in Ingye-dong, Suwon.
My brother-in-law had surgery there and was so satisfied with the results that he hasn't experienced a recurrence, so I went there on his recommendation.
The director of the varicose vein clinic is a former professor at Asan Medical Center, so he has a lot of experience and is very skilled at surgery, making him famous in the Suwon area.
And above all, he is incredibly kind!!
He explained everything in such detail that we spent over 30 minutes just on the consultation, excluding the time for the examination.
He truly felt like a genuine doctor.
If the distance doesn't matter to you, I highly, highly recommend this hospital, so if you are concerned about varicose veins, please give it a try for a consultation! I posted the hospital information using only the first letters just in case.
I will edit it if it causes any issues!
The photo below was taken on the day of my surgery.
After the surgery, the nurses put on two layers of compression stockings with all their might.

I am also looking for a hospital because of varicose veins. Could you please share the detailed hospital information? I am also curious about the name of the doctor in charge and the surgery cost.
Is it okay if I share the hospital name? I'm a bit hesitant because I'm worried it might cause problems, so I'll send it to you via private message.
