I signed up for personal training and worked out hard, but I developed varicose veins because I did a lot of lower body exercises.
The hospital said I needed surgery, so I couldn't finish the PT sessions I had regretfully paid for and underwent varicose vein surgery this time.
They say varicose veins can develop if you overdo lower body weight training or do a lot of hiking and running.
This is especially true for those with a family history like me.
Both my parents have had varicose vein surgery.
If you opt for a stripping procedure, the cost is cheaper because it is covered by health insurance, but it leaves a scar and takes a long time to recover.
If you use Venaseal or laser treatment, you can resume daily activities immediately on the same day and there is no scar, but it is more expensive.
In my case, I couldn't take a long break from work, so I underwent treatment using both laser surgery and injection therapy at once.
The surgery cost was more expensive than a stripping procedure. However, perhaps because I didn't have it done at a hospital in Seoul, the price was on the cheaper side compared to hospitals in Gangnam or Seoul.
You can get reimbursed for the surgery costs through private health insurance, but coverage varies by company, so be sure to check with your insurance company before surgery. For reference, I claimed 70% and received reimbursement.
Varicose vein surgery costs are quite expensive, and if you don't have private health insurance... It's really intense, so be careful everyone; if you overdo it trying to stay healthy, you'll just end up wasting money.
